We take the taboo out of talking money and we say yes to our desires. And each week I'll be bringing you a dose of money, mindset and relatable life stories so you can go out into the world and live your best freaking life. Let's do this, rich Woman.

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome back, rich Woman. Thank you for being here. This is your host, emily King, and today's episode is a really deep one.

Speaker 1:

And you might want to get out a pen or pencil or your phone to take notes, because there's going to be some mic drops I'm not actually going to drop my mic, but you know what I mean on this episode today, because we're talking about something huge for women in particular, which is worthiness and this whole imposter syndrome, and we are going to completely shift your relationship with imposter syndrome today, starting right now and worthiness and feeling enough, because that is what I see is the biggest barrier holding women back from growing their business and so many other things growing their bank account, growing their love life, growing whatever. Because they don't feel they deserve it. At the core, they feel someone else out there is better than them deserves. It has worked harder, has more degrees than them deserves, it has worked harder, has more degrees than them, whatever. So it's time to shut that down today and make sure that you step out into the world boldly, confidently, doing your thing.

Speaker 1:

And something I want to start with before we dive into the meat and potatoes of this today, is something that I find so fascinating is that one would think that if somebody had many, many years experience in their field of work you know a doctorate degree. What have you seemingly you know on paper was the quote unquote expert that they wouldn't have imposter syndrome. But I can tell you and I hope that this is a good relief for you is that from working with hundreds of women across the world with doctorate degrees, with literally decades of experience under their belt, they too come to me going I'm not enough, you know so, and so has been doing it for this long or so, and so has this expertise. And who am I to show up and do this thing? And they're literally like at the top of their field, right, they're like at the highest peak of their field. And they're still coming to me with this feeling of imposter syndrome, so, straight out of the gate. It's like the number of years that you have been working in your field, how much expertise you have in it, how many degrees you have in it, how many hours you've worked, all that kind of stuff does not matter to the ego. The ego doesn't care, because the ego will always find a way, and somewhere that you are falling short will always find a way, and somewhere that you are falling short. So if you have this false perception that, oh, if I get that degree or that thing or this, many more training hours, or if I just fly away and do this, then I'll be enough. You are feeding into the ego that is only going to get you to that point and then go. But you don't have this yet, right? The ego loves to feed off of unworthiness and not enough. And so what can we do to proactively be 10 steps ahead of the ego so that we don't fall into this trap?

Speaker 1:

Well, my friends, we're going to talk about it today. So first of all, I want to share the symptoms of feeling unworthy or having imposter syndrome. And you can just kind of feel in if they land for you and this can apply in business, in life, in, if you have a nine to five job, I'm just going to say them and you're probably going to sit there, be driving or walking or whatever, and go on. Oh, yes, that's, that's me. So A you might have no clients, right? Because if imposter syndrome is telling you you're not enough, you're not going to have any clients, because you're going to think who am I to have clients? I suck at this, right, or I'm not enough, or they should be going to so-and-so because they've been doing it way longer. They're way better than me, right? So, whether you realize it or not, you're going to be energetically repelling clients because you're like no, no, no, no, thank you. You're going to be telling yourself things like I'm not worth paying for, I'm not worth investing in, I'm not fun enough to work with. Why would people care to work with me? Some other symptoms of imposter syndrome that might not be so obvious are you're not getting visible, you're not being consistent, you're not celebrating your success along your journey because you think I have so much further to go. Right. You hit certain goals and it's just like next right, because there's this imposter syndrome. There's just not enough lack of worthiness within going. Nope, you still got to go, girl, like you still got so much further to go, still got to go. Girl, like you still got so much further to go.

Speaker 1:

A sneaky one of imposter syndrome is actually overworking. So you overwork yourself. This is interesting. You overwork yourself to convince yourself that you do deserve it and that you worked for it, when in fact you deserved it all along and could have had it the easy way, when in fact you deserved it all along and could have had it the easy way. Make sense. You're over-delivering because you're afraid people won't think that you're doing enough or you're good enough. Unless you over-deliver, you're under-earning. It's a very common one. Your sales might be going down or going really slow because, hey, who are you to be the one people want to buy from? And you're settling right.

Speaker 1:

So here's the thing If you're sitting around waiting to finally feel enough, you will be waiting a very, very long time because you will never be enough for the ego. You will never be enough for the ego. So it's time to stop undervaluing your expertise and overvaluing your limitations and instead start overvaluing your expertise and undervaluing your limitations and instead start overvaluing your expertise and undervaluing your limitations. Because if we're gonna doubt ourselves, let's doubt our limiting beliefs, not our greatness. And here's the thing worthiness comes down to choosing you. There's no magic pill. Worthiness is not something that someone's gonna give you. There's no magic pill. Worthiness is not something that someone's going to give you. It's something you must claim for yourself. You must choose it over and over and over and over and over again. Why? Because you will never be chosen, and I mean that. I say that lovingly. You will never be chosen. You must choose yourself first, and it's time to stop chasing confidence, because confidence already looks like you.

Speaker 1:

So what do we do to take action and just go forward and do the thing and choose ourselves? Well, here's a really great thing to remember is that two things get to coexist. There's this false idea out there that successful people, people out there rocking it, getting the sales, making the money, living their best life, all that kind of stuff have all their shit together. Well, my friend, that is not true, because nobody has their shit together, right, myself included. Some days it's a hot mess over here.

Speaker 1:

So here's the thing is I want you to embrace the duality, the yin and yang of life. You get to feel like you're not enough and still show up anyway. You get to feel like there's someone better than you and still sell your thing, still apply for that job, still apply for that speaking gig, still go for the promotion and still know that you have something to offer the world. You get to be flawed and be successful. You get to be imperfect and be rich. You get to feel like your branding isn't the best and still make a shit ton of impact, right. So fill in the blank for whatever it is that you think that you're missing and let yourself know that you still and always will be enough to be successful, rich and happy. Here's another thing I want you to embrace around imposter syndrome, feeling unworthy, all that kind of stuff. You might want to write this down so that you have it there for those hard days. Imposter syndrome is good. What, what, emily? Imposter syndrome is good. I thought it was this bad thing that I had to get rid of. No One of my favorite examples of imposter syndrome comes from Seth Godin's book the Practice, which I love.

Speaker 1:

It's one of my favorite books. And he says if you want to become a runner, you. I love it's one of my favorite books. And he says if you want to become a runner, you run for 30 days and then you're a runner. The first day you were not a runner, you were pretending to be a runner, like no one has a breakdown the first time they go for a run. Right, they're not like crying on the sidewalk, being like I'm not a runner, I'm just pretending to be it. Everyone's gonna find me out and everyone's gonna know I'm a fraud. No, we're all cool with it. Just put on your sneakers and get out there and start running Like no one cares. The same applies to your business. The same applies to whatever other area of your life you're looking to improve.

Speaker 1:

You most likely will feel like a fraud when you first start. You'll feel like you're not successful enough, qualified enough, expert enough, whatever enough. And to that I say perfect, that's the point. None of us notice anyway. Just put on your big girl pants and go. I mean, unless it's like brain surgery that you need to do Okay, yeah, I really. I really hope you have the qualifications to do that, you know. And in that case I don't want to just go into a uh, you know, a operating room and be like I got this, no, okay, you know, put this into context.

Speaker 1:

But for most of us, the imposter syndrome is good. Why? Because it means that you're taking action and you're actually doing something about what you want to do in life. And here's the thing life. And here's the thing Action is the antidote to stuck. Action is the antidote to stuck.

Speaker 1:

So next time that imposter syndrome comes in, I want you to do yourself a favor and I want you to celebrate, like, literally, like, if you feel it go, boom, yes, I feel like a fraud, amazing, I'm doing it. And like, jump up and down Like you just won the lottery because you kind of did. You won the lottery of not giving a shit about what people think and you decided to just like, do something already. So bravo, like freaking bravo. And once again, worthiness is not something that someone gives you, it's something that you claim. It's not someone magically appears with a wand and blesses you and puts a magic hat on you and says you got it now.

Speaker 1:

So taking action despite feeling the imposter syndrome, is one of the biggest things to celebrate, because you'll never feel fully ready Never. There will always be something that you can look for, that where you're falling short, where you could have done more, where you could have whatever, even still to this day. You know, like I've hosted events, like I just hosted the shift event last month. It was a wild success and did I have moments of feeling like, oh, we could have done that, we could have done this? And, yeah, I did Right, and I was super proud of myself for being in the game right, for showing up for my dreams.

Speaker 1:

So I I feel like this was a short and sweet but jam-packed podcast episode today of stuff to give you that kick in the butt and say get out there, do the thing, show up, get to that next level, do it imperfectly, say like F it, I'm doing it anyway, Because Most of us are trying to tiptoe into our dreams. Right, we got like one toe in the other foot out and we're like, okay, I think I can do this. It's like, go all in, dive into it, because it will be something that you will never regret. I would rather dive into my dreams and desires and what I truly desire for my life and fail at it or mess up or not go how I had planned. Then hold myself back, stay small and get small. Right, you know what I mean. Okay, I'll leave it at that today.

Speaker 1:

What I do want to say is I've been having a blast with my private clients these last few months, not only coaching them, but also using the amazing benefits of hypnosis to help them really rework their subconscious programming, to believe in themselves, to upgrade their wealth, set point, to grow their businesses, and it has been a blast.

Speaker 1:

I actually had a client of mine the past client of mine, I should say reach out to me just this past weekend saying like Emily, you've changed my life, like I've increased my prices with this. I'm hosting a retreat I'm going to be launching XYZ. Like it's just incredible what investing in yourself can do, and coming up in November is the last month to have the opportunity to work with me privately before I go off on mat leave for a few months once little Bambino comes into the world. So if you are looking to work with me, I'll drop my calendar link in the show notes and you can schedule in a session and we can chat about working together for 30 days to help you just like skyrocket and take your business life bank account to the next level. And if you have any questions, just reach out to me on Instagram at emilykingca. Thank you.
